PMS MCQs: Practice Questions by Subject

Free objective practice for Provincial Management Service candidates, covering English, Pakistan Studies, Islamic Studies, Current Affairs and general ability.

Start practising

The Provincial Management Service examination is run by each province's own public service commission, and the papers are mostly written rather than objective. Objective practice matters here for the screening stage and for the factual base the written papers rest on.

Provincial, and that shapes the content

PMS sits where CSS sits, one tier down and inside one province. The consequence for preparation is that provincial material carries real weight: the province's administrative structure, its history, its geography, its current issues, alongside the national material a federal paper would ask.

Prepare Pakistan Studies with that in mind. A candidate who knows the federal constitution well but cannot discuss their own province's local government structure is prepared for the wrong examination.

Know which commission sets your paper

PPSC, SPSC, KPPSC and BPSC each run their own PMS, and the composition is not identical. The number of papers, which subjects are compulsory, whether there is a screening test and whether it is negatively marked all vary. Take the syllabus from the commission advertising the post rather than from a general PMS guide, including this one.

What objective practice is good for

Use it for recall that would otherwise cost you a vague sentence in a written answer: constitutional articles, dates, institutions, office holders, treaties. Fifteen seconds of practice against a minute of hedging on paper.

Use it to find gaps. Repeated errors in one area are a specific thing to go and read, which beats a general sense of being behind.

Do not mistake it for the main work. The written papers are marked on argument and structure, and those only improve by writing.

Current affairs

Current affairs go out of date faster than anything else in a question bank. Use the questions to learn what kind of thing gets asked, and check anything recent against a current source before relying on it in a written paper.

Where to go next

The buttons above open the subject banks, each question with its answer and a written explanation. The PMS preparation guide covers the structure of the examination and a study order.
