FPSC MCQs: Practice Questions by Subject

Free FPSC multiple choice questions with answers and explanations, grouped by the subjects the Federal Public Service Commission screening tests draw on.

Start practising

The Federal Public Service Commission screens candidates for federal posts with an objective test before anything else happens. The subjects below are the ones that recur across those papers, whatever the post.

Federal, so the general knowledge is federal

The clearest difference between FPSC and a provincial commission is the frame of reference. Questions lean towards national institutions, the constitution, federal ministries, Pakistan's foreign relations and international bodies it belongs to. Provincial detail still appears, but it is not the centre of gravity the way it is in a Punjab or Sindh paper.

Prepare Pakistan Studies and Current Affairs with that in mind: the constitution, the federal structure, treaties and memberships earn more than district-level facts.

Practise one subject until it stops surprising you

A mixed hundred-question set gives you a score. One subject at a time gives you a diagnosis, because repeated errors in one place point at a specific gap rather than at a vague sense of not knowing enough. Close the gap, then go back to mixed practice to rehearse the real paper.

English carries more than candidates expect

FPSC papers tend to test English properly — synonyms and antonyms, prepositions, sentence correction, and comprehension — rather than treating it as a few easy marks. It is also the most improvable subject in the list, because the rules are finite and the vocabulary that recurs in these papers is a much smaller set than a dictionary.

Negative marking

Most FPSC objective papers deduct for wrong answers. That makes elimination the skill worth practising: an answer where you have ruled out two options is usually worth attempting, a blind guess between four usually is not. Fix your own rule before the test rather than deciding question by question under time pressure.

A note on current affairs

Current affairs age faster than any other subject in a question bank. Use them to learn the shape of what gets asked — appointments, summits, agreements, sporting results — and check anything from the last year or two against a current source before relying on it.

Where to go next

The buttons above open the subject banks, each question with its answer and a written explanation. For the test pattern, the syllabus and a study order, the FPSC preparation guide covers those instead.
